About

An independent reading of public authority files.

Carrier Authority Watch is a free daily feed of FMCSA operating-authority changes for small freight brokers, shippers, and dispatchers who check a truck carrier before they tender a load. It publishes new and pending authorities, suspension and revocation orders, and insurance filings, cancellations, and replacements from FMCSA's public Motus files on data.transportation.gov.

The site is not affiliated with or endorsed by FMCSA or the U.S. Department of Transportation. The files are a snapshot. They are information, not legal advice. Verify a carrier on FMCSA before tendering a load.

There are no per-carrier pages. A row links out to the FMCSA SAFER company snapshot for that USDOT. Officer names, phone numbers, email addresses, street addresses, and ZIP+4 are not stored. A row with no DBA says "Individual carrier" when the census calls the business an individual, or when the census organization type is missing and the legal name has no business marker such as LLC, INC, or TRUCKING. That row keeps the USDOT, docket, state, event type, and dates.

How a row is built, which dataset it came from, and which fields are deliberately left off are on the methodology page. The privacy page covers the email list. Sponsorship terms are on the sponsor page. Sponsors do not change the data, the order, or which rows appear.
